We are
seeking
documentary
material aboutmills, mines,
logging, logging
railroads,
hotels
and other early
industries in
New Hampshire's
White
Mountains.
Of particular interest would
be early photographs and documents such as letters, diaries,
ledger books and account books. Hand drawn maps and
surveys would also be of interest.
The towns of
interest include: Lincoln, Woodstock, Thornton, Campton,
Franconia, Livermore, Zealand, Warren, Rumney, Landaff, Carroll,
Bethlehem, Albany, Bartlett, Jackson, Sandwich, Waterville,
Jefferson, and the Crawford Notch which includes places like Hart's
Location, Sergeant's and Elkins Grant, etc.
This region also includes a number of towns
that no longer exist: Carrigain, Jericho, Whitcherville,
Dundee, Johnson, Gale River, Peeling, Jonestown, Fabyan's, Fairview,
and others. Material from these towns would also be of
particular interest.
