Maple Sugaring Boiling Sap. This photo, by Kilburn, shows an active boiling scene and much of the equipment needed for making maple sugar. Note the firewood stacked, a cauldron near the 4' square flat pan, a dipper, a carved wooden yoke used for carrying sap buckets, a tapered bucket on the tree to the right, a pair of snow shoes, and a storage tank that may have been home-made, judging by the saplings used. Perhaps the family is visiting?
